psst, JAPAN is run by lecteur Inc. (株式会社lecteur), Tokyo ("we"). This page explains what personal information we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for our newsletter.
- What you tell us when you request a plan: name, email, travel dates, the people traveling with you, interests, and food needs.
- Basic visit data: pages and buttons used, device type, screen width, language, country, and how you arrived. We collect this ourselves, without cookies. A random visit ID is kept only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it. We don't store your IP address.
- If you fill in our after-trip survey: your rating and answers, your email (to match your plan, never shown), and — only if you tick the box — the name and country you choose to show with your answers. You can ask us to take it down at any time.
- If you use “Find my plan”: the places, dates, group type and email you enter, so we can send your match and tell you when booking opens.
Why we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To make and deliver the plan you ordered, and to answer your questions.
- To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
Who we share it with We don't sell your information. We use outside services to run the site, and they handle data for us: - Website hosting: [Cloudflare] - Newsletter: [newsletter service] - Payments: Gumroad. Gumroad is the seller of record for checkout and handles sales tax and VAT. We never see your full card number. - Visit statistics and plan requests: stored in our own database on Cloudflare Some of these services store data outside Japan, including in the United States. They protect it under their own privacy terms.
Affiliate links When you click a booking link, the booking site may set a cookie so it knows you came from us. That is how we earn a fee. See our Affiliate disclosure.
How long we keep it Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Plan requests: [2 years] after your trip, then deleted.
